Celestine is the story of two young lovers in the bustling military city of Townsville at the height of the Vietnam war. There’s the French girl, charming, witty Celestine Benoir from the off-beat Bistro Paradis, and Nick Finlay, an ambitious local newspaper reporter.
But on a bright October day in 1966, Air Force One touches down in the northern city after a late change to US President Lyndon Johnson’s plans for his visit to Australia. The unforeseen consequences are dramatic, frightening and high risk. For Celestine and Nick, their idyllic love haven is shattered.
National security agents close in as dark secrets from Celestine’s past emerge to put the lovers’ lives at risk and drive their belief in one another to breaking point.
