Down by this mirrored morning
Where silver lines the sea
Where waves can find in ancient rocks
Time’s mortal reverie,
The ocean bares its tidal breast
And opens up its soul
With rocky scars and darkened pools
Like secrets never told.
Down by this patient surface
Past the miracle of light,
Like corners in a lifetime
That struggle in the night
Falls a shadow in the turning
With a flick’ring hint of peace,
And the wind is sadly singing
Of the turbulence beneath.
Russ' Writings from the Wet Tropics
The wet tropics of Far North Queensland is a place of enormous natural beauty with World Heritage listed rain forests sweeping down to meet the sea. And it embraces one of the great wonders of the world -- the Great Barrier Reef.
